For Period 7 (1984- 2003), there are a total of 48 Xuan Kong Flying Stars Charts available. Buildings or houses constructed in Period 7 has to adapt these charts based on its facing. Any house constructed in earlier period but went through a major renovation in Period 7 will be upgraded to Period 7 Charts. Same applies to Period 7 houses that went through major renovation in Period 8.

To simplify, use chart 2013 as reference and subtract one from the number at the existing palace every subsequent year and you'll get the yearly flying stars. Same apply to the monthly flying stars!
Please note that this method is only one of the 2 ways to determine Water Stars and Mountain Stars as certain period and angle facing require the reverse methodology.

Please take note that some practitioners are engaging the reverse method in identifying the yearly flying stars. Most Feng Shui institutions are engaging the forward sequencing format in determining flying stars sequence. Hence, be very cautious in adapting the reverse format unless you are absolutely sure. Only an accredited Feng Shui Master can determine whether your Home Feng Chart falls under 反吟 or 伏吟. Although Flying Star 8 at North-East sector meets Star 2 based on Period 8 forward sequencing chart and causes it to from 10 (8+2) but this method often pair water or mountain stars with 天盘 stars not flying stars. And 反吟 occurs when 天盘&地盘 are identical. It might be a bit confusing and difficult to understand for beginners. I would suggest to reference more Feng Shui publications to assure these methods.

Flying Star Analysis

The fundamental principles of Xuan Kong Feng Shui are driven from the 9 stars. Each star represent one of the 5 elements and has a Ying or Yang association. The different combinations of these stars will either generate cohesiveness or opposing forces. Therefore, it is critical to understand the basic on how the flying stars system originates.

There are a total of 9 palaces & 9 Periods in Xuan Kong Feng Shui study (1 Period = 20 years). Below is a detail breakdown.

Technically, there are a total of 59,049 combinations based on the above charts. However, there are same similarity among the totality of the charts and stars' positions at Section A should be consider as a single identity instead of 9 due to the fixed palace position. Hence, the number of combinations are reduced to 6,561 charts. But there are certain circumstances that causes Mountain & Water stars to adapt a reverse sequencing (逆飞), known as 反吟, instead of the original sequencing (顺飞) . Hence, the number of charts are increased. In practice, most Feng Shui Masters focus more on the Period x (Mountain and Water Stars) combinations to deliver cures and remedies. Therefore, the usable charts should be around 700-800 based on the 9 Periods but subject to the individual institution methodology.

Please take note completion date of the constructed property is used to establish the Period of the building thereafter, section A, B & C above are formed and it'll be permanent. These sections will not change unless a major renovation on your house covering the 5 aspects are met. And the renovation has to been done in a different period and confirmed by accredited Feng Shui Masters that it'll generate a more auspicious facing after upgrading the period. In 中州派玄空风水, there is another methodology that enable migration to the next period, Period 9 in this case,  known as 城門决。However, certain criteria has to be met in order to facilitate the upgrading.

The flying stars are more dynamic and changes every year. (Please refers to the flying star sequencing in my earlier post for reference). Hence, if your building and main door facing are both auspicious than the yearly flying star will boost your energy in good years and cushion your negativity in bad years. (Please take note that reverse sequencing (逆飞) cannot be applied onto the Yearly Flying Stars. By default, it is using the original sequencing (顺飞) regardless whether 反吟 or 伏吟.

No physical structure can retain its energy permanently. Once the energy of the building is depleted across time, it'll loose it's auspiciousness.. The lifespan of the energy level depends greatly on the period the structure was constructed. Example; Building A is constructed in period 7 then its energy lifespan is around 80 years! Hence, it is critical to know when your house was constructed in order to plot out the Xuan Kong Feng Shui chart of your house.

1) Negative star ‘Five Yellow’ or ‘五黄廉貞土’ resides at central palace and illness star 2, 二黑巨门土, resides at South-West sector in year 2013.

Cures & Remedies: Minimize red/pink/violet/orange/yellow/brown/green colors at central & South-West Sectors of your house. Keep these sectors neat & quiet. Place a few metallic objects to drain away negativity. And minimize placing of electrical appliances at these sectors.

2) Negative Energy – Tai Shui resides at South-East Sector, San Sha or Three-Killings resides at East and Sui Po at North-West.

Avoid renovation works at these sectors in 2013. If renovation works need to be carried out, do not start renovating these sectors first. It’s also important to choose an auspicious day and hour to start the renovation works.

Analysis 

As you can tell from the above chart that the main door facing is located at South Sector or Fire Palace. The man door consists of Mountain Star 3 and Water Star 1. The main door welcomes Flying Star 9 in 2013.

Period 8 | Generic Analysis 

1) Mountain Star 3 + Water Star 1: Auspicious overall but kids will be physically more active.

2) Water Star 1 + Flying Star 9: Auspicious for wealth cause (合十) but some masters would argue that it works well for the Mountain Star 1 + Flying Star 9.

3) Mountain Star 3 + Flying Star 9: Auspicious & good for fame & academic (木火通明). Whether Water Star or Mountain Star works better with flying Stars are subjective and dependent on the methodology of that particular institution.

The main door brings auspicious energy for the weak yang fire individual who lacks Fire element in his Bazi. However, Flying Star 5 at the center palace will still generate impact across the 8 surrounding sectors. Hence, remedies are required to drain the negative energy of Flying Star 5.

But the building facing is inauspicious and flying Star 4 will agitate Water Star 5 at South East Sector. Flying Star 5 at the center will also reinforce the Water Star 5 at South-East sector, boosting the negative energy. Therefore, placement of cures are critical to reduce the impact.

The building backend or North West sector is also not auspicious. Water Star 7 & Flying Star 6 formed an desirable pair that can cause significant impact to the career bringing potential disputes and legal implication. (9+7) has the potential to cause minor fire hazard but depends on when Monthly Flying Star 2 enter that palace.

Please remember that Mountain Stars govern Physical Health of the family members residing in the house. While Water Stars deal with the Wealth Luck.


Useful Feng Shui Tips

1. Interior: Toilet or rest room located in the center of your house is very inauspicious. Use your floor plan provided as reference. The energy at the center palace has a greater impact on the eight sectors surrounding it. 
2. Exterior: Main door or window should not face any overhead bridge directly. If you are staying on upper floor then it should be fine.  
3. Exterior: Avoid houses that are too near to religious buildings, government buildings, fire stations, police stations etc. A diameter of more than 10 meters should be fine. These structures tends to absorb auspicious energy within a certain diameter. Thus, draining the auspicious energy, if any, from your house.  
4. Exterior: Avoid landed property or HDB whereby the main door of the house is facing road or car park that brings head on traffic especially at night when the headlight of vehicles shine right onto your door or through your window. 
5. Exterior: Avoid houses that are sandwiched by tall structures besides or at the front & back of the house. Many public housing failed this aspect
6. Interior: The stove should never face the toilet directly, a big taboo in Feng Shui.
7. Interior: Avoid sleeping in a position or bed position whereby your head is resting directly against the window. Accumulation of energy is compromised and affecting your rest. 
8. Interior: Mirror directly facing your bed or you, while sleeping, is also a big taboo in Feng Shui. There are many sayings but our institution regards mirror as an object that attracts ener ingy from the opposite direction. 
9. Exterior: Always keep the exterior of your main door clean and neat to prevent agitating the auspicious or inauspicious stars. Avoid any obstruction or shoe cabinet outside.
10. Exterior: Reservoir & pond are consider "Still Water" not "Moving Water". Hence, still water can cure Star 6 & 7. "Moving Water" activate the Water Star. Hence, know your Feng Shui Chart before making any decision to purchase house facing reservoir and pond. River and canal are sometime considered as "Moving Water".  
11. Exterior: HDB housing with garbage facility located directly at the front and center position of the block with lift lobby behind it has the potential to generate inauspicious energy as the building facing is already inauspicious. If all unit doors of the block are front facing the back of the garbage facility then the unit door facing will be compromised.  
12. Exterior: Building, house, shops etc. located at T-junction with head-on traffic is very inauspicious and a taboo in feng shui.
13. Exterior: All exterior sharp corners, edges & objects are considered "Fire" element by our institution. Hence, any of these sharp objects pointing to your main door or window has to be cured if "Fire" element is not required.
14. Interior: Stove favor "fire gate" and works well with star 1, 3, 4, 8 & 9. Worst case scenario if the stove pair with Star 2 or Star 5.

Feng Shui 2013 Forecast & Remedies - Fire Snake

There are many negative predictions on the web on Flying Star 5 moving back to the center palace. As flying star 5 is classified as an unlucky or disastrous star, it will be reinforce by its own element at the center palace, Palace 5 or center palace, that might bring along negativity. But please take note that it happens once every 9 years so don't be too alarm by it.

But flying star 5 does affect the energy within your home. Position at the center palace of your home, it will inflict negativity to the 8 directions on the compass. That will be further boost by Mountain Star 5 or Water Star 5, if either one or both also reside at the center palace. (Remember that Mountain Star govern health and Water Star control wealth). Hence, worst case scenario will be the combination Mountain Star 5 or 2 + Water Star 5 or 2 + Flying Star 5 or 2 at center palace. And if an individual is going through a bad luck cycle, imagine the accumulation of so much inauspicious energy will do to the person or family!!! Furthermore, if your restroom or toilet is located at the Center Palace within your premise and on your audited chart, it will be very inauspicious even without star 5. A big Taboo in Feng Shui for restroom or toilet to be located at the center of the house. It is better to be aware the basic Feng Shui principles before buying, renting or renovating your house.

Taboos 2013 | Flying Star 5 

1) Absolutely no water feature, fish tank or any form of running water at the center of your house, using the floor plan to determine your center sector. Please take note that all the above items will strengthen flying star 5. And if either of the Water or Mountain Star is 2 or 5 or both are present at the center sector then the consequences might be even more severe. The impact might reveal itself on Feb. 4 to March 5 as Monthly Star 2 move to center sector. Yearly flying Star 5 + Monthly flying star 2....be very cautious! And if your toilet or restroom is located at the center of your house, please keep the door close at all time.

Taboos 2013 | Flying Star 2 

2) The above taboo apply to the South-West sector, which Flying Star 2 resides. Take note that Flying Star 5 affects the surrounding sectors and the impact of South-West sector will be magnify by Star 2 + Star 5, the worst combination for health and wealth. These effects will be more obvious if your main door is located at South-West sector. But only an accredited Feng Shui Master will be able to accurately map out your main door position. But if you can locate the center palace based on your floor plan then you can use a compass to measure your main door facing at the center palace. This is one of the method you can engage in DIY Feng Shui but subject to variation. Please keep the South-West sector clean and neat to avoid agitating flying star 2. No plants outside your main door if it is facing South-West and keep door closed at all time. And absolutely no red, pink, purple, yellow and brown color decoration at the main door.  

Taboos 2013 | Toilet at the center of your house 

3) It is going to be very tricky managing this combination. As you know that Flying Star 5 move to the center palace and it is greeted by your restroom. Any cure or remedy is only temporary and it is not auspicious in the long-term so better to consider relocating.

Taboos 2013 | Main Door & Corridor Area | Plants & Shoes

4) Always keep your main door area, including exterior, clean and neat. Shoes and slippers will mess out the energy of that sector and agitate the auspicious & inauspicious stars. Plants is consider wood element and it agitate earth element stars such as inauspicious star 2, 5 & auspicious star 8. Plants will also drain away the positive energy of water star 1. Hence, know your house feng shui chart before placing any plants outside your main door.

5) It is a big taboo to locate the stove directly facing the toilet in most Feng Shui! If your stove was to face the restroom, the accumulation of inauspicious energy will affect both health & wealth. This analysis are adopted by many Feng Shui Masters. The present of Star 2 or 5 will worsen the situation.

But please change it every 3 days to replace it with clean water.

Star 1 & Star 4

Although Star 4 is too far away from Period 8 and is generally considered energyless... But combined with Star 1, the pair can enhance your career luck and bought about promotion opportunities. The pair will also enhance your intellectual and academic performance in your career and personal life.

What is actually a Feng Shui Audit Report???

I believe some of us had previously engaged Feng Shui Masters to review our House Feng Shui. And in most cases, remedies & cures were delivered verbally without any documentation or report.

I recalled consulting a Feng Shui Master, one of the few consultations I went through, about 12 years ago to review my House Feng Shui. He came in with a compass and start taking the compass reading within the premises. Thereafter, remedies and cures followed immediately without much explanation on his evaluation of my House Feng Shui. As I know nuts about Feng Shui during that time, I blindly followed his instructions....hoping it'll bring me better luck. However, the result was rather disappointing after placing the remedies that the Feng Shui master instructed. Looking back, I realized that it makes no sense to pay so much without even understanding the Feng Shui Analysis of my premises. After going through a few consultations, without any audited report and not yielding any results,...I gave up. I realized that I was not alone.....

Professional and accredited Feng Shui  Masters often provide an Audited Feng Shui report, detailing all the 9 sectors of your house with the Flying Stars report, after the consultation. The report will be based on the floor plan of your house and the Period it was constructed.

Firstly, compass reading will be taken within your house and outside your residence. If you are living in a skyscraper, the external compass reading will be driven from your building facing. Only after the comparison of both readings that the Feng Shui Masters can reduce the degree variation and arrived on a more accurate Degree Facing. (Please note that a 3-4 degree variation might result in a different Xuan Kong Flying Stars Chart.) Please be aware that compass needle is very sensitive to disturbance by Wifi, mobile phone frequency, electric appliances, metallic objects etc. A simple test is to measure your door facing with a compass and then move back 10 steps to take the reading again. Variation applies almost 80% of the time. So how to arrive at an accurate degree by just relying on interior measurement?
